Happy New Year All!!

Upcoming Events

January Guest Speaker:  Roger Gossler

Topic:  What Is Our Garden Doing Today?

Many gardeners go to nurseries in April, May, and June to buy what is in bloom and ignore the winter garden that has some of the most beautiful and fragrant plants. Roger will bring cut stems and foliage of blooming plants so we will be able to touch and smell the flowers. Come be excited by the winter garden! Roger will bring plants for sale and can accept only cash or checks.

Roger Gossler and his family started Gossler Farms Nursery (https://secure.gosslerfarms.com/home.php) in Springfield in 1964.  His interest in plants has been life-long, and his learning comes from hands-on work with plants, an extensive library, and visits with other growers.  Roger has a vast amount of gardening

knowledge and is a regular speaker on the horticulture circuit. In 2009 The Gossler Guide to  Hardy Shrubs by Marj, Eric, and Roger Gossler was published by Timber Press.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE – January 2016

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Here we are starting the year 2016 and I’m wondering how did that happen so fast?  Every year the time seems to go faster than the year before.  I hope the holidays treated you all well and you are now ready to put all of the holiday things away and start again fresh.  It’s funny, but I love decorating for the holidays and when they are over, I can’t wait to put it all away again.

It’s now time to start thinking about the Garden Tour and Faire and just where we can help.  It does take us all to be involved to make it a success.  The Tour Chairs have been hard at work already along with the Garden Selection committee finding the perfect gardens to share with the public.  We’ll be hearing soon as to where the needs are so starting thinking of how you can help.  It’s a great way to get acquainted with other members and an easy way to feel as if you belong.

June has lined up another great speaker for our January meeting.  Roger Gossler, Gossler Farm Nursery, located in the Springfield, Oregon area.  He’s very knowledgeable about shrubs and trees that grow well here in our neck of the woods.

See you on January 18 – same time and place.

Judy
