Jan reports this month’s speaker will be Betheny Hegen from the Thyme Garden. She will guide us through a tour of the world of herbs; from growing them to cooking with them.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE – February 2018, Elaine P.
After the last meeting of 2017 things were looking bleak. We didn’t have a meeting place and we only had four gardens for the Tour. To add to our negative mood, the days were dark and gloomy.
Our days look so much brighter now. The sun rises earlier and sets later. It often lets us see it and temperatures have been mild. I said in my last message that our members were resourceful. They proved me right. I want to thank Joan and Myrna for speaking with their churches about the possibility of our meeting at them. We choose differently but we really appreciate their efforts on behalf of the Club. We will begin meeting at the Yamhill County Heritage Museum at the corner of Durham Lane and Highway 18. The room is smaller and therefore will be warmer and everyone will be able to hear what is being said. I hope it will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Sharon solved our other problem. She was driving down the street and saw a garden she thought would be great for the Tour. She stopped and talked to the owner. That particular garden was already on the Tour but they recommended another garden. She then went and talked to that owner and now we again have five gardens for the Tour! Thank you, Sharon. We still do not have any backup gardens. Just in case, please consider volunteering your own garden.
People are beginning to work on both the District Luncheon (April 19) and the 18th Annual Garden Tour and Faire (June 24). We can always use more helping hands. The tasks are lighter, everything gets completed quicker and the company is great.
Speaking of helping out the Club; many positions will be vacant at the end of our year. We will need a new president, treasurer and secretary. We also need new tour directors, a new membership committee and a new garden selection committee. Think about what is the best fit for your talents. We want to thank the retirees for their many contributions to the club. We appreciate all you have done for us. And we wish to thank their replacements in advance. They will guide us through another fun, informative and successful Garden Club year.
