Are You Lavender-adventurous?

While interviewing club member/master gardener & lavender cultivator, Starr Thompson,  I was delighted to discover there is still time to plant hardy lavenders. If you can’t catch Star with your lavender question(s), one of many great websites for lavender information is the Lavender Northwest website.

This website features a newsletter that provides current information about everything lavender, written by Northwest growers. Their latest newsletter offers the following advice;

“In most regions of the Pacific NW, Autumn is a good time to get lavender plants established in the ground. Get a head start by planning and preparing your space for planting now. Take advantage of the season’s cooler days and nights and let the light rain help your lavender plants get established now, before winter arrives.”

The newsletter gave information on several lavender topics that caught my interest, including double-blooming lavenders, information about pruning lavender in the fall for maintaining good shape and health. and a timely recipe for Lavender-Spice Mulled Cider. But you won’t find this info on their website unless you decide to subscribe to their newsletter. So, if you’re lavender-adventurous, go to the Lavender Northwest | ORG website. Just scroll down to the sign-up box, and sign up.
