April is here!! We can finally get out and do some real work in our gardens. Flowers and trees and shrubs are blooming everywhere and so are my allergies.
I have recently visited the gardens we have developed and maintain here in McMinnville. The Post Office, the West End Garden across from the soon to be something else bowling alley, and the Serenity Garden located behind the Willamette Valley Medical Center. The many daffodils we have planted are so bright and cheerful, one cannot help but smile. Soon, we will have opportunities to work at our three gardens for maintenance, mulching and plantings as needed, and on April 22 we will perform our annual cleanup of the tree wells along Third Street.
We again have five gardens for our garden tour! This year has been like a roller coaster with gardens having to withdraw, finding replacements, only to have other gardens have to withdraw. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Dorothea for all her work and to Patty for finding the last two gardens. Be sure to thank them. Dorothea is stepping down. We need to begin looking for gardens for next year now when they are at their finest. We need two or three members to join the Garden Selection Committee.

Enjoy those days between the showers.
