Greetings!! The season is changing. Cooler days make it easier to work in our gardens. We have even had some rainy weather to ease our water bills. There will still be days near 90. Summer doesn’t ease into autumn gently.
Although we did not meet during the summer, we have been active. Many heartfelt thanks to Patty, Sandy, Lisa, Ann, and Dolly for opening their gates and sharing their lovely and diverse gardens with us. If you wish to share yours just let me know. Linda and Colleen were busy tying up loose ends from the Garden Tour. Thank you again for all you did. Your shoes will be difficult to fill.
Dorothea is busy finding gardens for next year’s Tour. (If you see a possible garden, be sure to share with her.) Thank you.
Finally, the gazebo is up in the Serenity Garden. We are so very grateful to the members who stained the myriads of pieces involved before the gazebo could be put together and to Jan Clay for the use of her shed for storing all the said parts before, during and after the staining. Children are back in school. Football is back. We are back to meeting.
Our first meeting will be September 16 and will be devoted to our committees. We could not function as a club without our committees. We will highlight their activities and acknowledge their members. We need to show our appreciation for their hard work behind the scenes. We also need to fill some openings. We especially need new Tour chairs and someone to work with Charlene to take over the treasurer’s office next year. Please consider stepping up.
My theme this year again will be “Cultivating Kindness”. Soon we will be having local and national elections. Feelings can be very strong. We all have that family member or friend who see things differently than you. We need to be respectful and agree to disagree. When that becomes especially trying, drive out behind the hospital. Walk around the track to burn off anger and energy. Then go sit in the Serenity Garden. Be amazed at the space we have created.
Relax. Breathe.
So I hope to see you in September. Please remember to bring your mug for your coffee, goodies to share with the club, items to raffle and your plastics for recycling.
