Do you pass by a yard or garden each day that you think deserves recognition? Send us a note to nominate it for the Yard of the Month award.
Kent retired in 2015 from 43 years in city management, including 29 years as city manager of McMinnville.
He started mowing and weeding a big NE Portland yard where he grew up, Other than hiring help for stacking rocks, Kent has done all the yard work himself.
A pilgrimage to Scotland in 2019 provided inspiration for a stacked rock shrine in the back yard. What is now a massing of annuals for in the front, becomes a massing of tulips in early spring. Kent enjoys being outdoors and creating a different “garden palette” each year.
About The Yard of the Month
Yard of the Month is not a one-person committee. If you are reading this: Tag, you’re on this committee too! We want to honor and encourage our neighbors who are beautifying our community with their efforts.
All club members are requested to notice interesting front yards and to nominate them for Yard of the Month. Look for yards that are unique in some way and primarily owner-designed and maintained. If you see a garden that fits this description, please send the info. to Christine Pritts.
