nominate
Do you pass by a yard or garden each day that you think deserves recognition? Send us a note to nominate it for the Yard of the Month award.
Santiago and Hanna are both teachers and have three children. They have lived in this house 1 1/2 yrs, and Hanna is the gardener, although she claims to be a beginner.
Their garden has a vegetable garden in raised beds, and she uses the rails from her baby crib for climbing vegetables.
One technique she used is to spray paint small rocks red and put them next to her new strawberry plants to deter the birds. They peck at the rocks and find them hard and tasteless. Hanna says she hopes it works.
About The Yard of the Month
Yard of the Month is not a one-person committee. If you are reading this: Tag, you’re on this committee too! We want to honor and encourage our neighbors who are beautifying our community with their efforts.
All club members are requested to notice interesting front yards and to nominate them for Yard of the Month. Look for yards that are unique in some way and primarily owner-designed and maintained. If you see a garden that fits this description, please send the info. to Christine Pritts.
