2024 Scholarship Application

Horticulture | Agriculture Scholarship Deadline: March 30, 2024

The McMinnville Garden Club is offering $1,000 scholarships to high school and college students pursuing a degree in horticulture or an agriculture-related field at a two- or four-year Oregon college. These fields include agronomy, animal science, biology, botany, ecology, entomology, environmental science, forestry, landscape architecture, plant pathology, soil science, and viticulture.

Eligibility

  1. Must be a high school senior or a full time college student who is already enrolled and pursuing a degree in horticulture or an agriculture-related field at a two- or four-year Oregon college.
  2. Must be a permanent resident of Yamhill County at the time the scholarship is awarded.
  3. Must have a high school GPA of 2.5 or better.
  4. Maintain a cumulative college 2.0 GPA or better and be enrolled full time (12 units or more)

Application and Award Process

  1. Your scholarship application should include each the following.
    1. Complete Application form
    2. Include two scholarship recommendation forms, one from the school counselor (or in the case of a college applicant, college adviser) and one from a teacher, employer, or other adult none of whom are related.
    3. Copy of your latest official transcript from your high school or college.
    4. FAFSA Student Aid Report or ORSSA Expected Family Contribution as proof of financial need.
  2. Send your complete application packet to the following address. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

  3. If you are a finalist, you will meet with the Scholarship Committee in McMinnville. Scholarship winners will be notified mid-May.
  4. Funds will be paid to the college directly in two equal installments on the following schedule: September 2024 and January 2025.
