For those of you who do not know me, I moved here 10 years ago from California. I had lived there most of my life, except for a few years in the state of Washington when my husband worked for Boeing. I have always loved to be outside in the yard. My parents thought they were punishing me by making me go outside and weed, little did they know.
I am looking forward to our meeting in September. We have quite a year coming up. It will be our 100th anniversary of our founding for the McMinnville Garden Club. I wonder what they were thinking about 100 years ago. I bet they would not recognize McMinnville today. It’s hard to imagine. What it will be like in the next 100 years?
This year will also be the 25th year of the Garden Tour and Faire. That is a number of years and a lot of hard work by the members. It is wonderful how so many pitch-in to make them so successful. We will be having a “Signup September” activity at our first general meeting, where we will have posters of the various committees and the jobs they require. Come and check out all the opportunities.
We will also be hosting the April Pioneer District Luncheon. Many great minds and hands are needed to make this successful. We have a busy year coming up. Everyone should be very proud of what the club has done in the last 100 years. For just a small sample of what has been done you can look at our historic timeline web page
