Do you pass by a yard or garden each day that you think deserves recognition? Send us a note to nominate it for the Yard of the Month award.
This yard was chosen for its well-conceived landscape design and because so many people nominated it for Yard of the Month.
Owner, Lori Wallick, stated that the decision to replace her grass lawn with a dry creek bed was easy because her lawn never looked good, in spite of all her efforts with fertilizing, aerating, weeding, mowing, etc. She began by sketching her design so it would retain all the existing landscape plants.
Next, she used hired help for the heavy lifting with rockwork. The final installation was the Little Free Library, with its Snoopy-themed motif. Now she enjoys her front window view of the front yard, including the multitude of adults and children visiting the Little Free Library.
About The Yard of the Month
Yard of the Month is not a one-person committee. If you are reading this: Tag, you’re on this committee too! We want to honor and encourage our neighbors who are beautifying our community with their efforts.
All club members are requested to notice interesting front yards and to nominate them for Yard of the Month. Look for yards that are unique in some way and primarily owner-designed and maintained. If you see a garden that fits this description, please send the info. to Christine Pritts.
