Do you pass by a yard or garden each day that you think deserves recognition? Send us a note to nominate it for the Yard of the Month award.
This lovely yard, bursting with color, is a great example of what can be achieved with a late summer/autumn bloom in mind. Additionally, this is a working demonstration of an unfenced, “deer-resistant” yard, while the vegetable garden is safely tucked away in the fenced back yard.
A Little Free Library sits on the sidewalk, facing into the garden. It is painted vibrant red, complimenting a nearby stunning-red crepe myrtle, a variety appropriately named “Dynamite”. Owner, Dave Lowe states that he is out in his garden for a good part of each day, looking to see what works and what he might want to change. Dave claims dahlias as his current special passion, “because they offer so many captivating varieties and types”.
About The Yard of the Month
Yard of the Month is not a one-person committee. If you are reading this: Tag, you’re on this committee too! We want to honor and encourage our neighbors who are beautifying our community with their efforts.
All club members are requested to notice interesting front yards and to nominate them for Yard of the Month. Look for yards that are unique in some way and primarily owner-designed and maintained. If you see a garden that fits this description, please send the info. to Christine Pritts.
