April’s Yard of the Month Award goes to June and Eldon Hilton’s home on 1525 NE 17th St., McMinnville, which they purchased in 1969. With a laugh, June says, “The yard was in terrible shape. My success has come after many mistakes, resulting in many makeovers. Fortunately, I’ve learned from those mistakes, and now I’m pleased with the results.” Notable features: A lovely Japanese Pieris and a Star Magnolia are in full bloom. Nearby rhododendrons are budding out, promising another burst of color when the current blooms fade.

All club members are requested to notice interesting front yards and to nominate them for Yard of the Month. Look for yards that are unique in some way and primarily owner-designed and maintained. If you see a garden that fits this description, please send the info. to Christine Pritts.
