Do you pass by a yard or garden each day that you think deserves recognition? Send us a note to nominate it for the Yard of the Month award.
When owners, Shelley Gowell and her husband moved to this yard, it featured a small backyard orchard and some basic landscape plants. Now forty years later, it is reminiscent of an English cottage garden, abundant with roses, herbs and flowers, all informally arranged in a way that looks and feels natural. The delightful result is a garden space where plants complement each other, and fill the garden with swaths of color and scent, while attracting a community of pollinators.
There is always something new to look forward to in this charming Yard of the Month: By the end of May, one can expect to see a tapestry of colorful Roses on display. Along the sidewalk on the right side of the home, several Honeywort plants have pushed through the picket fence to better display their unique dusty blue-purple tubular flowers for the enjoyment of all who stop to notice.
About The Yard of the Month
Yard of the Month is not a one-person committee. If you are reading this: Tag, you’re on this committee too! We want to honor and encourage our neighbors who are beautifying our community with their efforts.
All club members are requested to notice interesting front yards and to nominate them for Yard of the Month. Look for yards that are unique in some way and primarily owner-designed and maintained. If you see a garden that fits this description, please send the info. to Christine Pritts.
